Solar power and battery backup in Cancun

In Cancun the AC runs most of the year, which pushes up consumption and your bill from CFE, Mexico's state utility. Solar panels cut what you pay, and batteries keep the lights on during outages. We connect you with local installers who work in coastal conditions.

Why it makes sense in Cancun

With heat and humidity almost year round, many homes use enough power to land on CFE's DAC rate, the high consumption residential rate, which is much more expensive. Panels reduce what you buy from the grid and help you stay off that rate.

Batteries solve a different problem: power outages, which are more common during storms. They keep the fridge, internet, water pumps and cameras running even when you are not home.

Hardware built for the coast

Salt air is what sets a Cancun installation apart from one inland. Ask for aluminum racking, stainless steel fasteners, panels tested for salt mist, and inverters and batteries in a sheltered spot. Plan on more frequent checks of connections and mounts.

Because of hurricane season, the roof anchoring has to be designed for high winds. Your installer explains how they handle it on your roof.

Your community's rules

Some gated communities and developments have rules on what is visible on rooftops, heights or colors. We check with the HOA before quoting so the project gets approved without back and forth.

How quoting works

Send us your latest CFE bills and photos of your roof. The installer sizes the panels and battery based on your usage, shade and what you want backed up. We send you options, free and with no commitment.

Frequently asked questions

Will the panels survive a hurricane?

A well anchored system with the right hardware is designed for high winds, but nothing is immune. Have it checked after every storm.

Will I have power during an outage?

Only if the system includes batteries. A grid tied system without batteries shuts off when the grid goes down, for safety.

Does salt air damage the panels?

It corrodes racking, bolts and connections if they are not the right materials. With aluminum, stainless steel and regular cleaning the system lasts much longer.

How much will I save?

It depends on your usage, your rate and the system size. The installer calculates it from your actual bills.
